24 hours later, all stained and dry. The stained surface had picked up a little dust, which I removed with a light pass with fine steel wool.

THen I sprayed a few coats of Polyurethane sealer which gives a hard, glossy and durable finish to the paddle.

Again, let the Polyurethane dry for a good 24 hours.

A dust-free area is nice if you have one, for this step.
